Papaya Face Mask with Pineapple Enzymes and Natural Clays
Our papaya face mask combines three different natural clays with pineapple and papaya extracts to create a fresh-mixed treatment for mature, oily and combination skin. Kaolin, bentonite and diatomaceous earth help absorb excess oil and lift away surface build-up, while the fruit extracts provide gentle enzymatic exfoliation to leave skin feeling clean, smooth and refreshed.
This dry-powder mask contains no added fragrance or essential oils. Simply mix the powder with water immediately before use to create a smooth paste. It is supplied in a lined aluminium tin with a wooden spatula, making it a simple plastic-free choice for your weekly skincare routine.
Why Choose This Natural Clay Face Mask?
-
Three-clay formula: kaolin, bentonite and diatomaceous earth work together to create a mineral-based powder mask with a soft, easy-to-mix texture.
-
Fruit enzyme exfoliation: pineapple and papaya extracts help loosen and lift away dead surface cells for a smoother-looking complexion.
-
For oily and combination skin: the clay base helps absorb excess surface oil without the need for harsh scrubbing.
-
Suitable for mature skin: a useful occasional treatment when skin feels dull, uneven or in need of a fresher appearance.
-
No added fragrance: there are no essential oils or added perfume in the formula.
-
Freshly mixed: the dry powder is activated only when you add water, so you prepare each treatment just before use.
-
Plastic-free presentation: supplied in a lined aluminium tin with a wooden spatula.
How Do Papaya and Pineapple Enzymes Exfoliate the Skin?
Papaya and pineapple are widely used in exfoliating skincare because they are naturally associated with proteolytic enzymes such as papain and bromelain. These enzymes work at the skin's surface, helping loosen the bonds around dead surface cells so they can be removed more easily.
This gives the mask a different type of exfoliating action from a grainy face scrub. Rather than relying on physical particles being rubbed over the skin, the fruit-derived ingredients complement the clays to create a gentler, rinse-off treatment. This makes it an enzyme face mask and exfoliating face mask rather than a traditional scrub.
Three Natural Clays for a Fresh, Clean Skin Feel
Kaolin Clay
Kaolin is a fine, gentle clay that helps absorb excess surface oil and impurities. It contributes to the soft texture of the mask and helps leave oily or combination areas feeling cleaner without the need for vigorous exfoliation.
Bentonite Clay
Bentonite is a highly absorbent clay used in face masks to help draw excess oil and surface debris away from the skin. It gives the formula more body and helps create the deep-cleansing feel associated with a traditional clay face mask.
Diatomaceous Earth
Diatomaceous earth is a fine mineral-based powder formed from the fossilised remains of microscopic aquatic organisms called diatoms. It contributes to the texture and absorbency of the dry mask and helps the mixed paste spread evenly across the skin.
A Face Mask for Oily, Combination and Mature Skin
This formula is particularly well suited when skin feels oily through the T-zone, congested, dull or uneven. The combination of absorbent clays and fruit-derived exfoliating ingredients makes it a useful face mask for oily skin and a practical face mask for combination skin.
Mature skin can also benefit when it needs occasional exfoliation to help the complexion look fresher and more radiant. The aim is not to strip the skin, but to remove surface build-up and leave it feeling smooth, clean and ready for the next steps in your routine.
How to Use Your Pineapple and Papaya Face Mask
- Place around 15g of powder, approximately three heaped spatulas, into a small clean bowl.
- Add around 15ml of water and mix until you have a smooth, even paste.
- Apply to clean skin using clean fingers or a face-mask brush, avoiding the eye area.
- Leave on for around 15 minutes, following the product instructions supplied with your mask.
- Remove gently with warm water and a soft face cloth rather than scrubbing the skin.
- Pat dry, then follow with toner, serum and moisturiser suited to your skin type.
For a larger treatment covering the face and décolletage, the existing instructions recommend approximately 30g of powder mixed with 30ml of water.
Pair Your Mask with the Right Toner
You can also mix the powder with a suitable floral toner instead of water. For combination skin, try our Organic Orange Blossom Toner. For mature skin, our Organic Rose Water Toner is a natural pairing.
After removing the mask, follow with the toner, serum and moisturiser that best suit how your skin feels that day.
Plastic-Free Powder Mask and Optional Face Cloth Bundle
The 112g dry mask is supplied in a lined aluminium tin with a wooden spatula and makes approximately six to eight treatments, depending on how much powder you use each time.
You can choose the standard mask on its own or select the face mask + organic exfoliating cloth bundle. The bundle includes our organic cotton exfoliating face cloth, with a textured muslin side and a softer brushed cotton side. It is particularly useful for gently removing the mask after use.
